Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Studo Guide platform ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including students, tutors, parents, sponsors, and visitors.
2. Description of Services
Studo Guide provides an AI-powered career guidance and academic support platform for South African students. Our services include career assessments, personalised reports, subject recommendations, tutor matching, bursary discovery, academic competitions, university application guidance, and progress tracking. Core features are free; certain premium services such as competition entries and university application assistance carry additional fees as listed on our pricing page.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or use of your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree not to misuse the Service, including but not limited to: providing false academic information, attempting to gain unauthorised access, interfering with platform operations, harassing other users or tutors, using the Service for any unlawful purpose, or attempting to reverse-engineer or copy any part of the platform.
5. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Studo Guide platform, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, data compilations, and software, are the exclusive property of Studo Guide and are protected by South African and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our express written permission.
6. Tutor Services
Tutors using the platform agree to provide professional, accurate, and ethical tutoring services. Studo Guide acts as an intermediary connecting students with tutors. While we verify tutor qualifications, we do not guarantee the quality or outcomes of individual tutoring sessions. Tutors set their own rates and schedules, and all payment arrangements are between the student and tutor unless otherwise stated. Studo Guide reserves the right to remove any tutor who violates these Terms.
7. Competitions
Academic competitions hosted on the platform are subject to specific competition rules published alongside each competition entry. By entering a competition, you agree to the applicable competition rules, including eligibility requirements, submission guidelines, and judging criteria. Entry fees are non-refundable unless the competition is cancelled by Studo Guide.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Studo Guide shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, academic decisions based on platform recommendations, or any actions taken based on information provided through the Service. Our platform provides guidance and recommendations, not professional academic counselling or guaranteed outcomes.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Studo Guide, its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Gauteng Province, South Africa.
